Event: Texas Potjie Festival 2010 (10th Anniversary Event!)
When: Sep 4-6, 2010 (Labor Day Weekend)
Where: KOA Campground, Rusk, TX
Accomodation: The largest percentage of Potjie-goers stay in the KOA campground (cabins RV stands, tents). Call 1 (903) 683-6641 to make reservations. Mention the TX Potjie and pay by Aug 1 to get 10% discount. Other accommodation includes: Weston Inn & Suites (1 mile from the grounds) : 1(903) 683-8383 (discount rate for mentioning SA Festival); Southern Motor Inn (2 miles) : 1(903) 683-2688 (10% discount for mentioning SA Festival)

No dogs over 25 lbs are allowed in the campground. All dogs need to be on a leash at all times. If you bring a dog, you need to pay a $50 deposit, which will be forfeited if your dog is not on a leash. You will also need to add "KOA Rusk Campground - 745 FM 343 East Rusk, TX 75785" as an additional insured on your home owner's policy for Sep 3-6 and provide proof of that at check-in. You also need to provide proof that your dog has had all required shots.

From Austin we recommend that you take Hwy-79 to Palestine, then Hwy-84 to Rusk. The KOA campground is not in downtown Rusk, but slightly southeast of Rusk on 343 about ½ mile east of the 343/69 intersection. Note that most people will start arriving at the campground on Friday, Sep 3. The map below shows where Rusk is located in Texas:
